Introduced by the British, Ceylon Tea has become a household name not just in Sri Lanka but in many parts of the world as well. The country, in fact, celebrated 150 years in the tea industry in 2017 and is looking to continue its global reach in 2019 which looks quite promising; this is due to the fact that Sri Lanka recently launched a much awaited tea promotion campaign worth Rs. 4.5 million in Russia.
One of the main aims of this campaign is to raise awareness about Ceylon Tea among the younger generations abroad who at present have a choice of Sri Lankan tea brands like Halpe Tea. Such well-known local brands have much experience in the industry and even offer tea factory tours in Sri Lanka. The promotional campaign consisted of two phases, with the first phase kicking off in countries like Russia, Japan, China and the second phase in nations such as Germany, Turkey, Iran, USA, Australia, UAE and Chile.
