Sri Lanka Nears 1M Tourist Arrivals for 2023 – Landmark Achievement on the Horizon

The tourism industry in Sri Lanka has been seeing a welcome resurgence in the post-pandemic period especially in 2023. By the 17th of September this year, the country had already recorded 970,006 international travellers and is closing in on the one million mark which will be a significant achievement. According to the statistics, at the time, the main tourism source market was India while the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, and China respectively rounded up the top five.

Such encouraging arrival numbers bode well for this popular holiday destination with the upcoming, busy winter season bound to attract more global travellers eager to experience the best of the island once more. While Sri Lanka has been long known for its idyllic beaches, tourists are also arriving to discover the nation’s rich heritage in places such as Dambulla. Hotels to be found here like Amaya Lake, Dambulla offer safe accommodation from which visitors can head to UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple and enjoy activities amidst pristine nature.
