Sri Lanka Offers Easy Entry for Tourists – COVID-19 Insurance Requirement Removed

Since Sri Lanka reopened its international borders, the country has been reducing the entry requirements for tourists. Amongst the updates was the removal of the mandatory COVID-19 insurance coverage for travellers on 17th June 2022 which was a welcome move. Previously, the island nation had also done away with on-arrival COVID-19 PCR tests for fully vaccinated as well as non-vaccinated and not fully vaccinated tourists.

Fully vaccinated travellers also don’t have to take a pre-boarding test; however, those who are not vaccinated or fully vaccinated need to show a negative result of a PCR test (within 72 hours) or a Rapid Antigen Test (within 48 hours) taken before embarkation. Tourists can thus easily visit Sri Lanka again and experience its many highlights such as well-known beach destinations like Kalutara; resort options here that are ‘Safe and Secure’ certified such as Avani Kalutara Resort have adopted strict health and sanitisation measures too and offer guests the chance to enjoy the best of the island.
