Sri Lankan passport holders can now enjoy visa-free travel to 44 countries, which marks a significant increase in outbound travel opportunities. The 44 countries include Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Maldives, and Japan.
Outbound tourism has continued to contribute significantly to the local economy by boosting travel-related services as well as the retail and transportation industries. It also creates new employment opportunities and promotes cross-cultural interchange. Outbound travel also strengthens the island’s international relations with Sri Lankan travellers acting as cultural ambassadors that promote Sri Lanka and its values.
These connections will also help promote Sri Lanka’s image as a travel destination and thus encourage more travellers to visit the island. Tourists visiting the island already have plenty to look forward to including scenic landscapes, a vibrant cultural heritage and the best Sri Lanka hotels including those by notable names like Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts.
