Malaysia Announces Durian Tourism Packages: Celebrating the King of Fruits

Tourism Malaysia has revealed multiple tourism packages that centre around the country’s famous fruit – the Durian, also known as the ‘king of fruits’. The revelation comes with a special publication “Durian Tourism Packages 2024/2025” that highlights 62 packages carried out by 27 local tour operators across 12 Malaysian states.

These packages are meant to highlight the renowned flavour and fragrance of the fruit as well as its cultural importance, while also giving tourists a chance to engage in and appreciate local traditions. The country’s tourism ministry also hopes to start a new trend of cultural and gastronomic tourism that targets food lovers and culturally curious travellers.

This also marks a new way of drawing in tourists apart from the standard Penang hotel promotion that emphasises the various hotels and accommodation options in the country like Travelodge Georgetown.
