Sri Lanka Records More Than 900,000 Arrivals – India Remains the Top Source Market

A further indication that Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is back on track, the country recently surpassed 900,000 arrivals in 2023; this was brought to light following the release of statistics by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority which showed that 900,708 tourists had visited the island by 30th August this year. When it came to the top source markets, India took the leading spot in August and is currently the top contributor for the year as well; other key source markets include the UK, China, Germany, and Russia.

This resurgence in tourism can be attributed to the restoration of international travel as well as stringent health and safety measures being in place to offer safe stays at resorts and luxury hotels in Sri Lanka; these include properties in key destinations like Kandy, Dambulla and Pasikudah from notable hospitality brands like Amaya Resorts & Spas, a popular choice for travellers looking to experience the best of Sri Lanka once more.
