Sri Lanka Safe for Foreign Travellers

Country Responds to UK Travel Advice

As reported on the EconomyNext news website on 15th March this year, the United Kingdom issued a travel advisory (7th March 2022) for its citizens heading to Sri Lanka; it warned that the country was facing issues such as power cuts, food shortages and queues to obtain basic necessities. However, the President of The Hotels Association Sri Lanka, M. Shanthikumar, was quoted as saying that this travel advisory was one of “extreme negativity” and that the situation was being managed. This was reiterated by the Vice President of the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators, Nalin Jayasundera; he added that the relevant services were being provided to tourists in keeping with their itineraries and without disrupting travel plans.

All said and done, Sri Lanka continues to offer travellers unforgettable holidays to the island. Amongst its key allures are the south coast beaches which can be enjoyed on a stay at hotels in Ahungalla; this includes ‘Safe & Secure’ certified properties like Heritance Ahungalla that have strict health and sanitisation measures in place as well.
