Resilient tourism drives Sri Lanka’s beachside hospitality forward
Sri Lanka’s tourism sector demonstrated robust recovery, with arrivals reaching 2.25 million by November 2025, despite early December disruptions caused by Cyclone Ditwah. According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, November alone welcomed 212,906 tourists, a 15.6% increase compared to the same month last year.
Europe remained the largest source market, contributing over 108,000 visitors, while India and Russia followed closely. Seasonal peaks were observed in September, showing a remarkable 30.2% rise, signalling growing interest beyond the traditional high season.
The report highlighted strong demand across multiple months, reflecting renewed confidence in Sri Lanka as a travel destination. Popular Sri Lanka beach hotels, including properties like Cinnamon Bey Beruwala, may benefit as the country continues to attract international travellers seeking coastal retreats and cultural experiences.
This upward trajectory underscores the resilience of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry post-pandemic, with recovery momentum set to continue into December and beyond.
