Sri Lanka Taken Off the UK’s Travel Red List – Fewer Restrictions for Those Vaccinated

The UK announced in September this year that eight countries were to be removed from its travel red list including Sri Lanka, a popular holiday destination. In a subsequent update, the previous amber and green lists were done away with on 4th October 2021, while those fully vaccinated were offered fewer restrictions; such travellers were no longer required to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test before their return to the UK from a non-red list destination.

Tourists from the UK can now look forward to holidays once more in Sri Lanka which offers quarantine-free entry to fully vaccinated travellers; they do however need to show a negative result of a COVID-19 PCR test conducted within 72 hours of their departure to the island. There’s much for tourists to discover once they arrive including at locations like Dambulla; hotels to be found here including Amaya Lake have stringent health and hygiene protocols in place and offer easy access to key cultural, historical and natural attractions.
