Sri Lanka targets 2.5 mln tourist arrivals in 2018 -Sri Lanka is confident it’s large goal for the year

With great success in the tourism industry last year, the bar is set high as Tourism Development Minister, John Amarathunga stated to the Xinhua that Sri Lanka hopes to have over 2.5 million tourist arrivals this year. It is decided that Sir Lankan Airlines, the national carrier, will make flights more frequent when it comes to regional operations to push the growth of tourism in the country.

Bungalows in Kandy are growing in popularity for their unique Victorian era interior like that of Mountbatten Bungalow, while hotels along the coastal belt are famous for their sea side views and water sports. Sri Lanka has received as many as 474,542 tourists in the first 2 months of the year which is accurately an increase of 13.8% compared to the first 2 months of the previous year. The heavily targeted markets are the some of the best performing economies like China, India, Germany, and Britain.
