Sri Lanka to Establish Tourism Service Centres – Kandy Amongst Chosen Districts

In May this year, the Sri Lankan government announced plans to set up tourism service centres along roads that connected with some of the island’s major tourist cities. As part of the proposed first phase of this initiative, 28 such centres will be constructed in various districts including Kandy, the nation’s hill capital, popular amongst local and foreign tourists alike; many opt to stay at a centrally located hotel in Kandy, Sri Lanka including properties such as Earl’s Regency and visit key attractions like the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Apart from Kandy, tourism service centres are also planned for the Kegalle, Badulla and Nuwara Eliya districts and will feature both essential and useful facilities for tourists travelling to different destinations; built to international standards these will include restaurants, money transfer centres and sanitary facilities.
