Sri Lanka to Focus on Culinary Tourism – Country Also Participates in Food & Hospitality Oman
Sri Lanka will focus on promoting culinary tourism which would attract high-end tourists to the country; this sentiment was put in the spotlight by the nation’s President, Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was speaking at the Bocuse d’Or 2023 award ceremony in Colombo in July this year. He further stated that the island will have the ‘Visit Sri Lanka’ tourist plan in place to attract more travellers while culinary tourism will be developed as well; it was also revealed that there are plans to launch a culinary school in partnership with the hotel and travel industries as well as the private sector.
To help bring to light its many culinary delights, the country recently took part in Food and Hospitality Oman. This event which was held in Muscat from 18th to 20th September 2023 saw the Embassy of Sri Lanka showcase various local food and beverages; these included rice, baked items, spices, Ceylon Tea and more. Tourists visiting this South Asian nation thus, have much to look forward to during a stay at a luxury beach villa; Sri Lanka offers such ideal accommodation at properties like The Villa Bentota by KK Collection which also sources local produce to provide dining options where guests can savour authentic local dishes.
