Local media of Sri Lanka reported that the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremasinghe has recently appointed a task force to analyse the possibility of granting visa-free entry to tourists from selected tourist friendly nations. This step has been taken in order to increase the number of tourists who arrive in the country annually.
The tourism minister of Sri Lanka, John Amaratunga, stated that the countries that are currently under the consideration of this proposal are India, China, and other West Asian countries and Europe. He further stated that this proposal might be implemented during the off-peak seasons which falls between the months of October to November and March to April.
