Sri Lanka to introduce new tourist zones to revive tourism – An attempt to revive the industry

The island of Sri Lanka was flourishing in its tourism industry for many years until the latter part of 2019 when COVID-19 began to rapidly spread around the world. Tourism on the island saw a big hit and is currently in the process of recovery. But can the industry revert to what it was before?

The Minister of Tourism has allocated more locations as new tourist zones. A few would be Nuwara Eliya, Arugam Bay, Ella, Kalpitiya and Bentota. Soon many other tourist destinations will also be available for travellers to visit. Staying in a hotel in Ahungalla the likes of Heritance Ahungalla can be looked forward to. All this will be possible provided both tourists and accommodation providers adhere to the necessary guidelines for health and safety.
