Sri Lanka to target 5 billion in Tourism for 2024 – Aiming for a place on the global stage

Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Priantha Fernando, announced at a post-Budget forum in Colombo that the country anticipates generating a record-breaking revenue of over USD 5 billion from tourism receipts next year, marking the highest ever figure for the industry. The announcement was made during a forum organized by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) in collaboration with Ram Ratings (Lanka) Ltd.

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 and previous incidents, Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has shown resilience, exceeding this year’s projections with an anticipated USD 2.3 billion in revenue and 1.6 million arrivals. Part of the success here could be attributed to the natural bounties of the country, as well as the best tourist places in Sri Lanka having properties like Heritance Hotels to provide appropriate accommodation for all arrivals to the country.
