Expected to Launch Soon

Sri Lanka is planning to launch a special app for tourists arriving in the country once borders are open for international visitors; this was highlighted in an online article published on 26th October 2020 by the Daily FT. Initiated by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, this all-inclusive Sri Lanka Tourism app was developed by the Institute of Information and Communication Technology with initial funding from the United Nations Development Programme.

When fully operational, the app will provide travellers with a wealth of useful information on all tourist destinations and sites in the country. This will no doubt feature attractions on the east coast which can be visited by those staying at Trincomalee beach hotels including the likes of Uga Jungle Beach. Additionally, the app will also provide relevant authorities with key details such as a traveller’s itinerary, PCR test results, real-time data on their location and where they are staying.
