Sri Lanka Tourism Conducts a Series of Roadshows in a Bid to Welcome More Tourists

Sri Lanka tourism recently made its way to India with the hope of rebuilding the country’s image. The tour is expected to encourage more visits from the subcontinent to hotels and resorts scattered across the island including some of the best hotels in Colombo the likes of charming Mandarina Colombo. As part of the promotional campaign, roadshows were carried out in 3 key cities of India namely Mumbai, New Delhi, and Hyderabad.

All these business-to-business sessions were executed in collaboration with MasterCard and Sri Lankan Airlines and are claimed to be a resounding success. In fact, a range of sessions received endorsement from the President of the Travel agent’s association of India, Ms Jyoti Mayal who vouched to assist Sri Lanka within the next few months. Discussions were also led with Telegu Film producers where the island nation was recognized as an idyllic location for films. Accordingly, Minister Fernando reinstated his commitment to simplifying the approval process for such filming projects in the hopes of ensuring the smooth coordination of such events. The roadshows witnessed the participation of at least 600 Indian trade delegations and 52 Media entities and were indeed a stepping stone to the conduct of a second promotional campaign in Bangalore, Chennai, and Cochin.
