According to the latest External Sector Performance Report of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the tourism sector of the country has been able to generate an overall earning of US Dollars 3592 million during the last year. Although this is a decrease when compared with the earnings in 2018, experts say that amidst all chaos of the Easter Sunday attacks, passing USD 3.5 Billion is still a good sign as a whole.
There is a 4 million tourist arrival target that the Sri Lankan Tourism sector has to achieve in the year 2020, and the officials try to captivate the markets of France, Germany, and the Maldives to re-join with Sri Lanka in this year. The authorities focus on promoting other regions of Sri Lanka such as Wadduwa and hope that resorts such as Taprobana Wadduwa will be highly benefited by this visionary thinking. A tourist staying in a Wadduwa resort not only has access to diverse water sports but also will be exposed to cultural experiences such as visiting the Kalutara Bodhiya in Sri Lanka.
