Sri Lanka tourism getting back on track – Positive hopes all the way

Although the Easter bomb attacks brought down tourist arrivals down to 1.9 million in 2019 from 2.2 million in 2018, experts say 2020 can have positive hopes for sure when it comes to the tourism sector of Sri Lanka. They say that as much as the government played its role in re-shaping its tourism sector after the incident, the private sector players too did their individual roles to bring back the industry close to where it was.

New infrastructure such as the Jaffna airport was introduced and several elements including hotels were enhanced with the objective of strengthening the tourism sector of the country. Giving a prime concern towards the tourism industry in the southern parts of Sri Lanka, there were several luxury hotels in Galle that openedfor the tourists and this enlarged the service provider circle in the region in which popular hotels the likes of Fortress Resort and Spa were already rendering a great hospitality service.
