Sri Lanka Tourism Grows Year-on-Year – The Sector Grows Further

Sri Lanka’s tourism is always on the rise it seems! Recent data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority displays a growth of 16.1% in the month of April this year compared to the same period last year. The figures suggest that as at the end of April, 888,535 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka in 2018. This increase in arrivals from foreigners is quite significant when checking against last year’s figures which amounted to 765,202 arrivals.

Considering the month of April alone, 180,429 international tourists have visited Sri Lanka signalling an increase of 20,180 more visitors compared to April 2017. The biggest sour of tourism for Sri Lanka so far has been India, followed by China and the United Kingdom. The remaining percentage consists of Australian and German travellers flying in. Hotels like AVANI Bentota Resort & Spa, a very popular Bentota resort are bound to have benefitted from the rise in tourism.
