In September this year, Sri Lanka Tourism hosted several roadshows in India to promote the country as a key destination to visit. These included one in New Delhi on 26th September 2022 and another in Hyderabad on 30th September 2022. Such roadshows are expected to draw more Indians to travel to Sri Lanka with diverse experiences to enjoy; from cultural attractions and sacred sites to pristine beaches and exotic wildlife, the island has much to offer, while travel websites like Truly Sri Lanka provide a wealth of insights for tourists.
India continues to be the top source market for the country and such roadshows are thus targeted at tour operators, trade associations, media outlets, influencers, and top industry stakeholders; the message was clear, Sri Lanka is not only a beautiful destination to visit but one that’s safe and secure as well. Apart from leisure, the island nation was also showcased as an ideal choice for business travel and MICE tourism, and it will be hoped that arrivals from India will increase in the upcoming months.
