Sri Lanka Tourism in 2020 – Uplifting one of the leading industries

Although Sri Lanka had a strategic aim to attract 4 million tourists in the year 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry collapsed drastically. With the travel restrictions imposed, tourists could not come to Sri Lanka, but the officials hope that things will slowly come back on track again when they open up the country for tourists from August- September 2020.

However, places and hotels that are frequently visited by tourists including Sigiriya hotels will be strictly monitored by the authorities and this includes close supervision even at popular resorts such as Aliya Resort & Spa. All related parties including tour operators in Sri Lanka will follow all the guidelines issued by the WHO and the Sri Lankan government when they are opening up operations once again.
