According to the Minister of Tourism Development, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs, John Amaratunga- Sri Lanka Tourism has invested over one billion LKR in 2019 to improve the infrastructure in the country, which includes the development of the Jaffna International Airport too. He, during his speech, also emphasized on the significance of addressing the infrastructural needs of other tourist destinations in the country such as Bentota and Anuradhapura and suggested that investing on good options such as Bentota hotel chains will also be a good investment decision to take- considering the benefit they can do to uplift the tourism arms.

He also touched on the unfortunate Easter Attacks that happened during the year, and how Sri Lankan Tourism authorities took reactive actions such as hosting the ‘Bohra’ Convention in Colombo to confirm the fact that Sri Lanka is still the safest country to travel to any foreign traveler. The Bohra Convention not only made the Colombo hotels full of its attendees but also the hotels further away such as AVANI Bentota Resort & Spa which are located to the lower parts of the country were visited by them as well.
