Sri Lanka Tourism is All Set to Host UNWTO’s 32nd Asia and the Pacific Virtual Joint Commission Meeting

Revitalising Sri Lanka Tourism

The World Tourism Organisation and Sri Lanka Tourism joined hands to hold the 32nd Asia and the Pacific Joint Commission Meeting from the 29th of June to the 1st of July 2020. However, due to the country being in lockdown because of the coronavirus, the meeting was moved online and was held on the 30th of June. The theme for the commission was “Impacts of COVID19 on the Tourism Sector and the Recommendations for the Recovery Process.”

The programme was attended by the Secretary-General of UNWTO, officials and Tourism Ministers across the Asia Pacific. Here they discussed how the country could use their resorts in remote areas such as Chena Huts which is one of the most iconic hotels in Yala Sri Lanka and other such locations to entice tourists to visit in safety.
