With the expected outcome of increasing Sri Lanka’s popularity as a tourist destination, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau recently embarked on a special promotional mission to Saudi Arabia. This was partly due to the fact that Saudi Arabia has made a significant contribution to Sri Lanka’s tourism boom in terms of the number of visitors to the island. In fact, in 2017, the most number of tourists from the Middle East region was recorded from Saudi Arabia who registered a total of 35,481 visitors to the island.
Conducted by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, this mission to increase visitors from the region included visits to the main cities of Riyadh and Dammam. There was also a roadshow that was hosted at Holiday Inn Qasr and Holiday Inn Corniche on the 8th and 9th of April. Potential Saudi visitors have a wide range of accommodation options to choose from be it at hotels or resorts. Additionally, Sri Lanka tour packages offered by local travel specialists such as Connaissance de Ceylan provide tailor-made tours as well.
