Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau was one of the standout organisations at the Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF), as it did a stellar job taking advantage of this opportunity to promote visitors to the island nation. The GITF took place from May 19th to the 21st in Beijing, China, with several media outlets and travel operators in China taking part in the event. Representatives from Sri Lanka including the Minister for Tourism Harin Fernando and the chairman of the SLTPB made up part of the delegation that went to the event.
The SLPTB impressively won the award for the “Most Distinctive Tourist Destination” and the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau won the Most Charming MICE destination. Several discussions took place between the Sri Lankan delegation and the Chinese participants on the vacation options in Sri Lanka for Chinese travellers, noting the several landmarks in the country and luxury villas in Sri Lanka including properties such as Bentota No 1 as ideal tourist spots.
