Sri Lanka Tourism Receives A Boost as Singapore Eases Travel Advisory Warning

In keeping with steps taken by other countries, the Singapore government recently relaxed its travel advisory to Sri Lanka following improved security conditions within the island nation. Due to April’s Easter Sunday attacks that saw several bombs go off in Sri Lanka, Singapore issued a strong travel advisory whereby citizens were advised to “defer all non-essential travel”. However, since no major security incidents have taken place since then and with added security measures in place, the travel advisory now is one that encourages travellers to “exercise caution”.

Following the attacks in April, tourist arrivals took a sharp downturn though it’s showing signs of steadily picking up as more foreign travellers are beginning to return to Sri Lanka. Travel packages to the island’s key destinations are a major draw as tour specialists like Steuart Holidays continue to cater to those wishing to experience the island’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
