Sri Lanka Tourism Revenues Double in May 2023 – Impressive Numbers All-Around

After three strenuous years faced by the Sri Lankan tourism industry, owing to various social and economic issues, 2023 produced a positive turn with revenue doubling in May 2023 compared to the previous year, going from a meagre 43 million US dollars to 131.5 million US dollars. These numbers have been obtained via a survey conducted by the tourism promotion office.

The first five months of 2023 made upward of 800 million US dollars, which was a 30% improvement compared to the previous year. Visitor arrivals have also doubled compared to last year, and all these point to a tourism resurgence in Sri Lanka. A resort such as the Habarana Village By Cinnamon could start seeing more visitors than the previous years due to this surge in tourism, which is always a welcome sign.
