The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority reported 138,405 foreign tourist visits in August, marking a substantial increase in arrivals. From January to August 2023, over 900,000 tourists visited, highlighting a positive trend for the country’s tourism sector. August notably ranked as the second-highest month for tourist arrivals this year, following a strong performance in July with 143,039 visits. Minister of Tourism and Lands, Harin Fernando, unveiled a significant global promotional campaign, investing 1.6 billion rupees to attract more visitors.
