Sri Lanka Tourism Surges in 2025, Powered by Indian, Russian, and UK Visitors
Reviving tourism, redefining travel — Sri Lanka welcomes the world back
Sri Lanka’s tourism sector is experiencing a remarkable rebound in 2025, with over 10.5 lakh international arrivals recorded by April, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. India continues to lead as the top source market, contributing more than 2,10,000 visitors, followed by Russia with over 1,10,000 and the UK with nearly 98,000 arrivals.
The island’s appeal lies in its affordability, cultural landmarks such as the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Temple of the Tooth, and its diverse natural landscapes. This resurgence was further highlighted in May, with arrivals rising 18.5% compared to the same month last year.

Indian travellers remain a cornerstone of this growth, drawn by Sri Lanka’s close proximity, shared cultural ties, and wide range of travel experiences. Many choose to stay at leading properties like Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, reflecting the growing popularity of luxury hotels in Colombo.
With improved connectivity and tourism campaigns, Sri Lanka is firmly on track for sustained growth in 2025.
