Sri Lanka Tourism to Prosper in 2018 – Tourist Arrivals to Rise Once More!

For a country with a rich culture and a wonderful tropical climate with golden sandy beaches, it is no wonder factor that tourism holds an important role when it comes to bringing in revenue to the economy. However, in the past few months, the industry has been struggling due to the state of emergency imposed on March 6th for the sake of public safety. On the contrary, the Minister of Tourism Mister John Amarathunga stated that he is certain that the industry will bounce back to quickly to meet the target of 2.5 million tourist arrivals this year.

The Minister further explained that there are several projects planned out to attract more Chinese tourists to Sri Lanka. By the increase in the arrival of tourists to the country the coastal area tourist hits such as Arugam Bay, Beruwala and Kalutara hotels are sure to benefit with an increase in bookings. Luxury hotels such as Anantara Kalutara Resort and others are growing increasingly popular in the past few years.
