Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals on the Rise – Industry Receives Timely Boost

The number of tourists coming to Sri Lanka has been increasing over the past few months and the signs are that this will continue to rise. One contributing factor is that the country has a more relaxed arrival process instead of strict in-room quarantine, though stringent health measures are in place too; travellers must stay within a bio bubble at a certified ‘Safe and Secure’ Level 1 hotel such as Anantara Kalutara Resort; they are free to enjoy the facilities at such hotels in Kalutara and visit certain attractions under the protocols in place.

The nation restarted tourism by reopening its borders in January 2021 which saw the arrival of around 1,635 tourists. Since then, there has been a rise in numbers with 4,581 tourists recorded in March alone. In total, during the year’s first quarter, there have been 9,629 arrivals and the prospect looks good for the trend to continue.
