To accommodate the increasing number of tourists, many hotels and resorts have opened over the years as well and for good reason. According to a recent report, there has been an increase of 19.3% in tourist arrivals in February 2018 when compared to a year earlier with visitors from China and India both showing significant growth. According to the data received from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Office, China, being the top tourist generating market, saw a 42.3% increase (35,929 visitors) while those from India soared to 25% (32,914 visitors) in February.

The country continues to attract a wide range of tourists, be it those on the lookout for budget accommodation or luxury resorts including at its commercial capital. Travellers visiting this part of the island have a myriad of Colombo hotels and resorts to choose from including the likes of Berjaya Hotel Colombo which are close to popular tourist attractions.
