As part of the measures to encourage more travellers to visit, Sri Lanka has been updating its entry requirements for tourists, especially for those who have received a full dose of a COVID-19 vaccination. A significant change took place last October when the protocols were amended to allow fully vaccinated travellers quarantine-free entry once they had shown a negative result of a PCR test conducted within 72 hours of embarkation. Furthermore, they were not required to undergo a PCR test on arrival and were exempted from having to obtain a mandatory local insurance cover for COVID-19.
According to these guidelines, fully vaccinated tourists can make their own arrangements for airport transfers and accommodation including at villas in Kandy, the island’s hill capital; “Safe and Secure” certified properties here like Hanthana Boutique Villa by Amaya follow stringent health and hygiene measures, while the staff are fully vaccinated as well.
