Tourism momentum builds as Sri Lanka approaches the one-million visitor milestone.

Sri Lanka’s tourism industry continues to show impressive growth in 2025, with over 80,000 international visitors recorded within the first 18 days of May. According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), a total of 80,421 tourist arrivals were documented during this period, reflecting strong and sustained interest in the island as a travel destination.

This surge brings the year-to-date total to 977,305 tourist arrivals by May 18, putting the country on track to surpass the one-million mark earlier than anticipated. The steady increase signals growing confidence in Sri Lanka’s travel offerings, from cultural landmarks to modern city stays.
