Sri Lankan government to introduce new tourism promotion law –A New Chapter for Local Tourism

The popular local news provider Daily Mirror revealed the Sri Lankan Government is drafting a new Tourism Promotion Law in a move to boost the tourism related sectors of the local economy. Addressing the AGM of Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association in Tangalle, in September, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that the authorities intend to make Sri Lanka a 365-day destination. The article further stated that the Prime Minister revealed his plan of improving inbound flights in order to offer the travellers an exclusive experience.

This plan is expected to benefit the existing market players like a Sri Lanka travel agency including options such as Aitken Spence Travels. The article further revealed that the new Tourism Promotion Law would bring down The World Choir Game organized by Interkultur Foundation, performances from internationally popular singers amongst many other actions. Quoting the Prime Minister the article stated that the government expects to correct the nation’s debt situation with the inflow of foreign exchange through these activities.
