Sri Lanka’s Tourism Potential Highlighted at IFTM Paris 2024: Introduction To French Market
Sri Lanka was able to deliver a successful tourism presentation at the International French Tourism Market (IFTM) held in Paris this year — a two-day convention connecting leading travel trade professionals to international markets. In collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, SriLankan Airlines, and 26 other notable companies, the showcase highlighted several unique facets of Sri Lankan tourism, including its diverse cultural attractions, natural landscapes and historic, heritage sites; a reflection of over 3,000 years of documented history.
Despite its size, the island nation attracts millions of tourists annually, spread across various top destinations around the country. Coastal hotspots include the Southern towns of Galle and Ahangama, while inland getaways are also becoming increasingly popular. Kandy, for instance, is one of the many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka, offering historical and spiritual charm amidst 5 star luxury hotels and mountainside retreats, including renowned properties such as Earl’s Regency Hotel by the Aitken Spence Hotel Group.
