Sri Lanka’s Tourism Promo Campaign from November 2016 – A Peaceful Destination

For the first time ever, Sri Lanka is set to launch a big country promotion campaign in November 2016. The campaign aims at showcasing the island as one of the world’s safest places to visit, having overcome a 30 year war in 2009. Arrival numbers have been growing since, with record highs in July 2016.

Popular for the quality of service and hospitality, high end global brand names are now increasingly entering the local markets, one of the more recent examples being the Anantara Kalutara Resort. However, if you’re more of a backpacker or simply just not looking for a luxury hotel in Sri Lanka still has many more choices available to suit every kind of traveller.

Sri Lanka’s inbound growth last year ranked the highest in the Southeast Asian region at 18%. The 2016 target aims at 2.5m tourists
