Sri Pada, also known as Adam’s Peak, is one of the most renowned attractions that Sri Lanka has to offer. The Sinhalese name for the mountain, Sri Pada, translates into ‘sacred footprint’, because of the indentation resembling a footprint located at the summit. Many believe the footprint belongs to Lord Buddha, while others believe it was made by Adam the first man, and Sri Lanka was supposedly Eden.

The annual Sri Pada pilgrimage takes place on the 24th of December, so there will be many holidays to Sri Lanka during the month of December. Many organisations such as Walkers Tours would also be organising many excursions to this sacred mountain. There are six possible trails to reach the mountain, and even the easiest one would take around five to six hours to complete.
