The swimwear segment of the 2016 Colombo Fashion Week kicked off in style at the Colombo Habours Complex on the 24th and 25th of June highlighting some of the top resort wear and swimsuit designers and manufacturers in the industry. In attendance at the event was the who’s who of the local and regional fashion industry while many tourists from the nearby One Galle Face and other fashion forward locals and expats enjoying retail therapy in one Colombo shopping mall or another were also spotted at the venue. Organized with expanding Sri Lanka’s reach as a global swimwear hub the attractive and innovative designs on the runway showcased the sheer variety of swimwear manufacturers in the tiny island nation popular for its sandy beaches. Aptly titled the Swim Edition the showcase not only brought attention to budding local designers hoping to enter the fray but also the popular swimwear trends of the season.
