T20 Cricket World Cup Launches in Australia – Sydney Cricket Ground Amongst Key Venues

This month saw the beginning of the eagerly anticipated men’s T20 Cricket World Cup organized by the International Cricket Council. The eighth edition of this prestigious tournament which runs from 16th October to 13th November 2022 is being held in Australia. Apart from the host nation’s team, who is also the defending champions, seven other teams have automatically qualified for the Super 12 phase; these are England, South Africa, Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The remaining four teams are chosen according to qualifier matches featuring Sri Lanka, the West Indies, Scotland, Namibia, Ireland, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, and Zimbabwe.

Venues across Australia are hosting the different matches of the T20 Cricket World Cup including the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) close to PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, Sydney. This includes the key match-up between Australia and traditional Trans-Tasman rival New Zealand on 22nd October 2022, which will be a repeat of last year’s final. Those staying at Darling Harbour hotels can easily catch this match at the SCG amongst others including the first semi-final on 9th November 2022. Other venues that are being used are the Adelaide Oval, The Gabba (Brisbane), Bellerive Oval (Hobart), Kardinia Park (Geelong), Perth Stadium and the Melbourne Cricket Ground which will host the finals on 13th November 2022.
