Later this month, Thai AirAsia X, a long-haul budget airline based in Thailand, will resume its services which will link Bangkok with the Japanese city of Sapporo. This direct daily service is scheduled to commence on 29th October 2023 and will provide an ideal opportunity to tap into the winter season in Sapporo, known for offering plenty of winter sports and attractions. The flights will connect the Suvarnabhumi Airport in the Thai capital with Sapporo which is the capital of the island of Hokkaido.
As quoted by the TTR Weekly news website in August this year, Tassapon Bijleveld, the Chief Executive Officer of Thai AirAsia X, stated that the new route will provide more economical travel options; he further added that both Sapporo and Hokkaido are much loved by Thai travellers and offer year-round experiences be it in winter or summer along with culinary delights including seafood like Taraba crab. Those visiting can enjoy stays at hotels near Sapporo Station which are also within easy reach of the airport for convenient access; these include properties like Travelodge Sapporo Susukino which offer affordable accommodation and make an ideal base for experiencing the best of the city and exploring Hokkaido.
