Thai Expertise to Expedite Tourism Recovery – Thailand Promises a Boom in Sri Lankan Tourism

As a novel initiative of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) to promote Sri Lankan Tourism in Thailand, especially after the Easter Sunday incidents, a series of activities took place in July 2019 with several high profiles of Thai Tourism delegation. An MOU was also signed as a result between SLTPB and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to promote bilateral tourism between the two nations.

During their stay, the delegation also did not miss to visit attractions in the country not only in the popular historic cities of Sri Lanka but also in other semi-historic cities like Kalutara. Although the attacks happened to target the tourist hotels in the Commercial Capital of Sri Lanka- Colombo, the Kalutara hotel chain was also affected directly with the lack of tourists coming to the country. Famous tourist resorts in Kalutara the likes of AVANI Kalutara Resort believe that through positive strategic initiatives taken by the SLTPB together with Tourism Authorities of other countries, Sri Lankan Tourism will soon recover bringing good hopes to the sector at large.
