Thailand aiming for at least 3% economic growth in 2024 – Tourism will be the main contributor

Thailand is targeting a minimum of 3% economic growth in 2024, aiming to attract more foreign tourists and boost both public and private investment, according to Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira. Despite being Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy, Thailand has experienced slower growth compared to regional peers, dealing with challenges such as high household debt, borrowing costs, and China’s sluggish recovery. The country’s growth was 1.9% last year, with an average annual growth rate of 1.73% over the past decade.

To stimulate economic growth, Thailand plans to increase the number of foreign tourists by one million this year, aiming for a total of 36.7 million visitors, Mr Pichai announced at a news conference. This initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the country’s economic recovery and development. Since Bangkok is one of the most popular cities visited in Thailand, it is noted that tourists often look out for a Bangkok hotel near MRT stations. With many hotels like Modena By Fraser conveniently located with easy access to public transport, Bangkok is sure to see more tourists coming in comparison to other destinations in Thailand. However, other popular spots have also emerged in recent years offering travellers an amazing experience while getting better each year. As a whole, the country is sure to achieve better economic growth this year thanks to the advancements in the tourism industy.
