Thailand Aims to Attract More Chinese Tourists in 2024 – Promoting tourism growth

Thailand is strategically focusing on offering high-standard services, including convenient entry procedures, comfortable accommodations at any luxury hotel in Bangkok, and delectable cuisine, to entice tourists, particularly from China. Nithee Seeprae, the deputy governor for marketing communications at the Tourism Authority of Thailand, emphasized this approach during the Thailand Tourism Forum 2024 held in Bangkok.

During the forum, scholars and business leaders convened to exchange insights and strategies for promoting Thailand’s tourism industry. Nithee highlighted the pivotal role of tourism in Thailand’s economy, with China consistently being one of the largest source markets for the country.

Addressing a common challenge faced by tourists staying at hotels like Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, Nithee mentioned the visa application process and emphasized that visa exemption would significantly enhance Thailand’s attractiveness and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

In line with this vision, Thailand had previously implemented a temporary visa waiver for Chinese visitors, which ended on February 29th, 2024. However, the Thai government has now decided to permanently waive visa requirements for Chinese citizens, effective from March 1st onwards.
