Scheduled from December 9, 2023, to April 30, 2024, the Thailand Biennale Chiang Rai 2023, themed “The Open World,” promises an artistic extravaganza in Chiang Rai. Featuring works by 60 artists from 21 countries, including 38 international and 22 Thai artists, the event will unfold across various venues in Chiang Saen district and Chiang Rai city.
Locals, visitors, and guests staying at Chiang Rai resorts, such as the luxurious Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort, can explore renowned sites like the Chiang Rai International Art Museum (CIAM), Baan Dam Museum, the iconic Wat Rong Khun (White Temple), Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park, and more. In the Chiang Saen district, highlights include Wat Pa Sak, the Golden Triangle area, and the Chiang Saen National Museum.
The Biennale will showcase over 10 pavilions curated by local and international experts, such as the MoMA Warsaw Pavilion, Korean Pavilion, and Production Zomia Pavilion. Additionally, visitors can enjoy collateral events like musical performances, film screenings, seminars, and open studio sessions, fostering collaboration with local communities. Initiated by the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture under the Ministry of Culture, the Thailand Biennale aims to promote contemporary art across diverse regions.
