Thailand & China Bolster Tourism Ties – Thai Roadshows Also Held in China

The China Tourism Group Travel Services and Tourism Authority of Thailand signed a letter of intent in Beijing this February as China and Thailand looked to strengthen tourism ties; this year not only marks 48 years of diplomacy between the two nations, but 17 years of cooperation in organising Thailand’s Chinese New Year celebrations which is one of the largest outside China. While opportunities which could be pursued in the future were discussed, there were also talks on jointly organising the Moon Festival also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival in Thailand in September this year.

China continues to be a key source market for the Thai tourism industry which received a boost in 2023 with the arrival of Chinese tourists for the first time since the pandemic. From 1st January to 10th April this year, over 614,000 Chinese arrivals were recorded and by year’s end, the figure is expected to be between seven and eight million. To further encourage visitors, the ‘Amazing Thailand Amazing New Chapters Roadshow to China 2023’ was held in Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Shanghai in February 2023; this was followed a few months later in April, with the ‘Amazing Thailand Road Show to China 2023, Phuket & the Andaman+’ hosted in Beijing, Nanjing, and Chongqing. Travellers from China and around the world have much to look forward to on their visit including safe stays at some of the best hotels in Thailand; these include properties of hospitality brands such as Avani Hotels & Resorts in key holiday destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Pattaya and Krabi.
