To promote the strong comeback of the post-COVID MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) industry, the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has launched its bid to organise a Specialised Expo 2028 in Phuket. Hosted as a collaboration between Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health and the province of Phuket, the event will be named ‘EXPO 2028 Phuket’. The event’s theme will be ‘Future of Life: Living in Harmony, Sharing Prosperity, and it will go live for three months, from March 20 to June 17, 2028, at Mai Khao — on the northwest coast of Phuket. The estimated attendees for the event are 4.9 million, which comprises 54% locals and 46% foreigners from 106 countries. Almost all luxury hotels in Phuket, such as the 5-star Anantara Layan Phuket Resort, are expected to provide accommodation to many visitors during the period when the event takes place.
