The month of May marked yet another benchmark in relieving COVID-19-related restrictions for Thailand. The news of relaxed COVID-19 regulations for international visitors was a major relief point to Bangkok city hotels, resorts and other lodgings like Avani Atrium Bangkok. As reported in the Asian edition of Bloomberg on the 8th of April 2022, the decision to scrap off RT-PCR tests on arrival and replace them with antigen tests was made on the same day, following a meeting held at the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration.
Aiming for economic revival, this decision was made after many countries like Australia and Singapore eased their travel bans. While the world is gradually normalising COVID-19, Thailand too joined forces by removing the mandatory polymerase chain reaction test for foreigners with effect from May 2022.
