Thailand is Now Open for Travellers from Over 50 Countries
A Step towards Revitalising Economy
Thailand has eased its travel restrictions for tourists arriving from 56 countries in an attempt to uplift the country’s pandemic-stricken economy. However, foreign nationals arriving in Thailand will be required to undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine period and they will also have to be tested three times for the virus. This initiative was implemented under a Special Tourist Visa long-stay programme with effect from 9th December 2020.
Foreign nationals from countries including Australia, France, and the United States can travel without visas; however, they should be able to produce a medical certificate proving their COVID-19 free status 72 hours prior to arriving in Thailand along with a reservation at a quarantined hotel. The usual 30-day visa period would be extended up to 45 days and tourists can look forward to spending their vacation at a Koh Phangan resort of their choice such as Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas once they complete the required quarantine period.
